All-Energy 2025: Glasgow’s Renewable Energy Fair

All-Energy 2025

Fresh off All-Energy 2025, held at Glasgow’s SEC on May 14–15! As a rep for NextG Power, a leading battery energy storage system (BESS) supplier, I soaked up the UK’s biggest renewable energy event, drawing over 12,000 attendees and 1,450 exhibitors. From offshore wind to hydrogen, it was a snapshot of the net-zero future. Here’s what I saw, the trends shaping the industry, and how NextG Power fits in.

A Renewable Energy Hotspot

The SEC was alive with developers, policymakers, and innovators, all pushing for a cleaner world. Marking 10 years in Glasgow (and secured until 2027), All-Energy felt like the “AGM of renewables.” I am connecting with partners and exploring how our BESS, EV chargers, and smart solutions align with the market.

The opening plenary, with Scotland’s Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes and UK Energy Minister Michael Shanks (via video), laid out Britain’s Clean Power Mission. A panel with Juergen Maier CBE of Great British Energy and Glasgow’s Councillor Susan Aitken pushed for rapid renewable growth. The 11 conference streams, from grid modernization to hydrogen, were packed with insights. The “Hydrogen Proposition” series was a highlight.

What Stood Out

The exhibition was a tech paradise. Autonomous iOt, Iris Solar Technology, and Triton Anchor Europe showed off IoT, solar, and offshore innovations. I checked out BESS displays, noting how our battery systems for homes, businesses, and EV charging compare. Our app’s real-time energy optimization would’ve fit right in.

The STEM & Education Programme, engaging 300 students aged 12–15 plus 16-year-olds via Powering Futures, was awesome. Seeing kids dive into clean energy careers was inspiring. The Dcarbonise Theatre in the Energy Efficiency & Sustainability Hub drew crowds with decarbonization talks, echoing our mission.

Industry Trends

All-Energy 2025 tackled big issues. Here’s what jumped out:

Policy Must Stay Stable

ScottishPower’s Keith Anderson warned that zonal pricing could scare investors and raise costs. Siemens Energy’s Darren Davidson stressed consistent policies for net zero. This matters to us, as stable rules help us plan BESS rollouts for EV charging and grids.

BESS is Booming

Battery storage is soaring, with Europe’s capacity at 61.1 GWh in 2024, set to add 29.6 GWh in 2025. For EV charging, our focus, 2–4 hour BESS durations are common, with 4-hour systems growing for solar integration.

Hydrogen and Offshore Wind

Scotland’s green hydrogen push shone in the “Make It,” “Move and Store It,” and “Use It” sessions. Offshore wind talks highlighted 2030 projects. Our BESS can smooth renewable intermittency, a topic I discussed with developers.

Workforce Growth

The Skill Zone and Insight Energy Theatre focused on training and diversity. I shared with students how BESS roles, from tech to software, are shaping the future.

Where NextG Power Fits

All-Energy gave us a clear view of the market. Our BESS, scalable for homes, businesses, and EV charging, support solar and grid services like frequency stabilization. Our system stores solar power for nighttime EV charging, a feature exhibitors would’ve loved. The Civic Reception at the Glasgow Science Centre was great for networking with grid operators and policymakers about rural EV charging and CARES projects.

Challenges and Opportunities

Policy uncertainty and grid limits were hot topics. The UK’s market reform review raised investment concerns. But with battery costs dropping, BESS is affordable. We’re offering cost-effective solutions and eyeing local supply chains for EU compliance.

What’s Next

All-Energy 2025 showed Glasgow’s clean energy leadership. We’re pumped to push 2–4 hour BESS for EV charging and solar, with grid-scale plans in sight. We’re eyeing All-Energy 2026 for more connections. Contact NextG Power to see how our BESS can power your net-zero goals!
